Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 13, 2026

MIJ Guitar Guide (“we,” “us,” or “this site”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.

Who We Are

Our website address is: https://mijguitarguide.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the site.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site uses cookies for several purposes:

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter your details when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
  • If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • When you log in (site administrators only), cookies are set to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
  • If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. It contains no personal data, simply the post ID of the article you edited, and expires after one day.
  • Cookies also support analytics (see “Google Analytics” below) and advertising (see “Advertising” below).

You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how some parts of the site function.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with this site (for example, which pages are viewed and how long visitors stay). Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this information, which may include your IP address (in anonymized or truncated form, where applicable). This data is used only in aggregate to improve the site’s content and performance.

You can learn more about how Google collects and processes data at Google’s “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and other third-party advertising networks. These networks may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also find out more about how Google uses data when you use our site by visiting Google’s Privacy & Terms site.

Affiliate Disclosure

MIJ Guitar Guide participates in affiliate marketing programs, including the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon and affiliated sites. If you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence the content, opinions, or reviews published on this site.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (such as Akismet), which may process data across international borders.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your inquiry.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have left comments on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To make such a request, please use the contact form on this site.

Third-Party Links

This site may contain links to external websites (such as manufacturer or retailer pages) that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or regulatory reasons. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
